Handmade ceramics for restaurants and interior design projects

I make customized one-of-a-kind pieces ceramic pieces for restaurants, bars and hotels as well as for interior design projects.

Handmade ceramics can be a great way to add a unique and personalized touch to the dining experience in a restaurant and a handmade cup will enhance the presentation of a drink or a cocktail. The integration of handmade ceramics into your restaurant’s table settings will improve the overall aesthetic and ambiance.

Handmade ceramics can be a beautiful and unique addition to interior design. Unique ceramic pieces add a touch of artistry and craftsmanship to a space, bringing warmth, texture, and character. Here are some ways you can incorporate handmade ceramics into your interior design:

TABLEWARE: Handcrafted ceramic plates, bowls, and mugs can elevate your dining experience. Especially when they are pieces with unique glazes and designs that match your aesthetic.

VASES AND PLANTERS: Handmade ceramic vases and planters can hold fresh flowers or potted plants, adding a natural and earthy element to your decor.

SCULPTURES: Incorporate ceramic sculptures and art pieces into your design. They can serve as focal points and conversation starters in your living space.

CANDLE HOLDERS: Handcrafted ceramic candle holders can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Combine various shapes and sizes, allowing you to mix and match for a unique look.

LIGHT FIXTURES: Ceramic pendant lights or sconces can bring warmth and texture to your lighting design.

CERAMIC WALL ART: Hang ceramic wall art pieces as decorative accents. These can be in the form of tiles, sculptures, or wall-mounted plaques.

FUNCTIONAL ITEMS: Handmade ceramic soap dishes, toothbrush holders and trays can be both functional and aesthetically pleasing in your bathroom.

When incorporating handmade ceramics into your interior design, it’s essential to consider the overall style and color scheme of your space. Handmade ceramics often have a rustic or artisanal quality that can work well in various design aesthetics, from bohemian and rustic to minimalist and contemporary. Mixing and matching different ceramic pieces can also add depth and interest to your decor.

If you have any questions or need advice related to your interior concept, design ideas or any other aspect, feel free to ask, and I’d be happy to assist you.

Below there are a couple of projects that I realized for clients such as restaurants, bars and interior designers.

Handmade center piece and serving trays

MEZCALERIA LA PIÑATA CANTINA, BARCELONA

When Magel got in touch with me I was thrilled. He asked me to come up with a design for a center piece and trays inspired by an agave plant. The purpose of the center piece is to place pieces of fruit and chocolate on the leaves as condiments that come with a mezcal drink.

Creating handmade ceramic plates involves several steps, including preparing the clay, shaping the plates, drying, glazing and firing them in a kiln. Here you can see some of the steps.

The glazed pieces are fired in the kiln to 1240 °C. After that they are finished and durable enough for everyday use. They can also go into the dishwasher and into the microwave.

Handmade lamp bases

INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT, VIRGINIA US

This project has been in inspired by the black ceramics they make in Oaxaca. I used black grogged stoneware clay and built up the shape with coils. The finished pieces were placed on a base plate in order to lift them up and enhance the look in the style of brutalism the client was looking for.

These lamp bases are the largest pieces I ever made and I couldn’t have been happier with the result.

Handmade plates

COLLABORATION WITH MONSTRUO ESPAGUETI, ANASTASIA BENGOECHEA

Anastasia approached me asking if I could make some large handmade plates for her and that she would paint with her designs. She wanted the plates chunky with uneven edges and definitely big. When your brand is called spaghetti monster I just found it logical that you should have plates with your design. So I hand shaped the plates out of stoneware clay, she painted them and I took care of the glazing and firing. READ MORE
