Throughout the pottery course, you’ll delve into the art of ceramics, from preparing the clay for the wheel to centering it, lifting the walls, and crafting your own vessels. As you master the technique of centering clay, you’ll also find a centering of the mind, allowing you to detach from the bustle of daily life and fully engage in the present moment.

In contrast, the handbuilding pottery course offers a vast array of creative possibilities, allowing you to shape clay into any form imaginable. At niho Ceramics pottery studio, you’ll explore a comprehensive range of handbuilding techniques, including pinching, coiling, and slab building, enabling you to craft both functional pieces and decorative objects. With each step of the pottery course, your creations will grow in complexity, as you blend different ceramic techniques to produce truly one-of-a-kind pieces. Here, your creativity knows no bounds, limited only by the size of the kiln.

In our studio, we work exclusively with stoneware clay, firing it twice for optimal durability and aesthetic appeal. The initial bisque firing reaches temperatures of 900 degrees, followed by glazing and a second firing to 1240 degrees in our Nabertherm kiln. The resulting ceramics are not only visually stunning but also food-safe, dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe, making them ideal for everyday use.

Continuous pottery courses take two hours per week and there are four sessions per month. Choose between wheelthrowing courses and handbuilding courses and learn all the ceramic techniques that will allow you to make your own vessels out of clay. Sessions take place either in the morning or in the afternoon/evening.

Step into the studio and enjoy a truly personal pottery experience! Private sessions are perfect for friends, couples or small groups who want to explore their creativity in a relaxed and inspiring environment.

Depending on the activity, sessions last between 2 and 8 hours, with the 8-hour option split into two consecutive 4-hour days. You can choose a date and time that works best for you and we’ll arrange the details based on availability.

Guided by niho, you’ll create your own handmade ceramics, discovering the joy of shaping clay and bringing your ideas to life. After the session, your pieces will stay in the studio for drying, glazing, and firing and I’ll notify you when they’re ready to pick up — so you can enjoy your one-of-a-kind creations at home.

Celebrate a birthday, hen or stag party, team-building event or any special occasion with a creative pottery experience! These sessions are designed for groups of all sizes and can be held with or without previous experience, making them perfect for everyone. You can choose hand-building or wheel-throwing activities and we recommend allowing at least 2 hours, with 3 or 4 hours being ideal for a more relaxed and complete experience. Sessions can be scheduled at a date and time that works best for your group.

Guided by niho, everyone in your group will create their own handmade ceramics in a fun, interactive, and memorable session. Themes can be tailored to your interests, for example tableware like cups or a breakfast set or other creative projects. After the workshop, pieces remain in the studio for drying, glazing, and firing, and I’ll notify you when they’re ready to pick up.

At niho ceramics pottery studio there are coworking spaces available that will give you access to the pottery studio 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will get a shelf space and work on our spacious tables, use the slab roller and the pottery wheels, glaze your pieces with the studio glazes or your own glazes and fire them in the communal firings. We only use high fire clay in the studio and fire to 1240 degrees.
